ferm LIVING ApS

When ferm LIVING’s founder, Trine Anderson, discovered this old Danish word while leafing through her grandmother’s needlepoint book, she felt a strong affinity with it. For Trine, creating wallpaper is like designing fine fashion. With each design, she seeks to dress walls and finish spaces with character and style. Trine has been designing since she was a little girl growing up in the small Danish village of Jylland, where she made dresses for her dolls with spare fabric from her parents’ clothing factory. She founded ferm LIVING in 2005, and today she designs from her studio in Århus, Denmark. Her wall art blends imaginative forms and offbeat subjects with a modern yet classic take. Trine draws inspiration from traveling, people watching, nature, fashion, and vintage books and magazines.
ferm LIVING launched its first collection of wallpaper in 2006 at the Scandinavian design fair, Formland, in Denmark. Her bold renderings of unexpected subjects like ostrich feathers and wild berries breathed fresh life into a vintage medium and received much attention. In Spring 2007, ferm LIVING debuted a range of whimsical wall stickers and was nominated for the prestigious Formland Design Award. Most recently, ferm LIVING introduced its second collection of wallpaper, Graphics in Nature, inspired by the Scandinavian outdoors. These exquisite wallpapers combine graphic lines, natural motifs, and metallic accents with stunning color.
This fall, ferm LIVING is launching a custom wallpaper service, WallCollection, which will allow customers to use their own images or select a design from a gallery of talented international artists to make their own, made-to-measure wallpaper. And, ferm LIVING’s first bedding line will be available in early 2008.
ferm LIVING believes that great design should be accessible to everyone, so offers its wallpapers through retailers, as well as showrooms. Our eye-catching wall décor, be it wallpapers or wall stickers, is a creative, easy, and affordable way to add inspiration and artistry to people’s living spaces.
